Pay it Forward

Have you heard of this contagious little project called Pay it Forward...
it's something so very simple yet overflowing with inspiration, generosity, and delight.
I discovered it accidentally having found Abby's blog

So how's it work you ask?
Well it's really quite simple...
The first five people to comment on this post will receive a handmade gift from me.
Though, they won't be extravagant in value they will certainly be rich with love:)
In return you must also write a post about the Pay it Forward project...
and send a handmade gift to the first five visitors who comment on your post.
Isn't this the most perfect way to connect with our kindred spirits!
Now remember to take your time...they don't all have to be sent today or tomorrow....
and it's not the size of the gift, but the spirit of "Pay it Forward".

Suffering from Withdrawl....

I have had such a busy week with continuing to get our home ready to sell. Although we have not yet found a new place we are hurrying to be ready for when we do. All the bedrooms have now been painted and we have just the family room / kitchen area to do. The final bedroom to be painted was my craft room so it got all packed up and emptied of desk and file and so could not craft all week....so sad! The agent we will probably sell with has given us a few things to think about one of them being that our curtains in the family room dated the house, as well as the matching pelmet over the kitchen blind....so we got rid of those and bought some new curtains for the family room and we also got new curtains for the main bedroom. God was with us shopping for sure as we got both for 1/2 price, and I think they look great!!

Finally last night as my poor husband was still sick and we were unable to go out or have friends over I thought I would craft and make at least one card but was hoping for a few. However, I had almost done one, when my friends called to ask me if we were going to a mutual friends birthday at the Pancake Parlour (meeting at 9pm). Shaun was going to bed so I said I would go. Well we didn't get home til after 11.30pm, but I decided that I wanted to finish a card. I did and this is it.

Warm Colours in a Cold Climate...

This 2 week challenge for Jac-inks this time is WARM COLOURS, which is kind of funny as we have had such an early start to winter.....soooo cold here in Canberra at the moment. So at least we should get warm looking at all the beautiful cards people will enter in to the challenge.

Here is my entry which I had to put together in a bit of a hurry as I have so much to do today. We are really hoping to get together with Dan the real estate agent and Andy the mortgage broker to start the process of buying another home. We have found the one we want but have to buy it then sell this....mmmmm......scary! God's hand is on us and I know if we are meant to get it we will. So takes away a fair bit of stress.

Anyway here is my DT entry for Jac-inks. Hope you like it. The image is one I found on the computer, a freebie, and I love it! Paper & card stock is Stampin'Up the lace I got from Scrap n' Stuff at the Richardson shops, Pearls from Spotlight.

A Gift of Love

Our friend Julie who we got to know 27 years ago here in Canberra when we were all young and single now lives in Melbourne teaching there. We hadn't caught up in years and before our son's wedding she took me shopping in Melbourne where we found the outfit I was wore to the wedding.

Last year, it was discovered she had an aneurysm, luckily before it bled and she had surgery just as there was a reunion with all of us from those early years here in Canberra. (We had a family wedding so were not able to attend it either). Later in the year we headed down to stay with Julie, catch up and help her out with a few odd jobs around the place that she might need doing. It was great to catch up but she was still not & is not 100% so was working part time.

Julie has a lovely home with a beautiful garden. Her home is also filled with pictures of flowers especially roses. I noticed she really needed a picture or something above her bed and so offered to do a scrapbook frame to go there. I finally got the thing together and rather than a picture I put in it my favourite scripture text, Jeremiah 20:11. We will be taking it down to her the first weekend in June. However, I was not going to take the chance she wouldn't like it & then have to bring it back home again (although I had a friend here who would LOVE it if Julie didn't want it...LOL!!!) so I sent her an email with a picture of it attached and asked her to be honest. She says she loves it, so I look forward to giving it to her soon.

I have used Layer of Color butterflies, prima flowers, an image I had found on the web of the bird, and of course, Webster's pages which I love!

My Gorgeous Girls.....

Today we headed out to visit with our baby granddaughter who turns 2 months old tomorrow. Our son was looking after her while Lani was helping her mum around at her mum's. When we got there our other son Tristan, his wife Carissa & our daughter Tamazin were all there sharing lunch. Tris & Carissa had to leave so we hung around to spend time with our girls.

Lexi has grown heaps and is very response. Tam managed to get her laughing and smiling. She really is cute. She is not a good sleeper though and only managed about a 15 minute cat nap in her cot and then probably another 15 min on the lounge before we fed her again. She was wearing the cute grow suit Tam had bought her with little owls all over it and the words 'Hoo's the cutest? (as in hoot!!) I took a lot of photo's but here are just a few!

This is my favourite photo and I plan to have it enlarged & put into a frame for Tam for her birthday....in about 2 weeks!

Aunty Tam adores her little niece...

Congratulations Darren!!

Our friend and fellow British Motor Club member Darren did very well at the National Rally up at Port Macquarie over Easter, coming home with the Paul Kelly Trophy. So I thought I would make him a congrats card using my new Morris Minor car stamp which I had bought from England. I had trouble taking the photos as the colour really didn't show up very well, I am sorry about that, but was happy with the look of it, and he was pleased too I think! (I think my phone was having a colour blind day!!)

Darren is now working on getting his traveller (you know the wagon with the timber in it????) on the road so will keep you posted.....they are really cute and if you are familiar with Sylvanian Families this is the car they have.....

Vintage Valerie....

It's been a while since I got in and did a Midnight Madness Layout and wanted to get back into it. The Paper players also had some colour combos that I liked so combined the two and this is the card I have made. This is a new image but it is an old piece of left over background paper that I have embossed with my new Tim Holtz embossing folders! The lace I only bought the other day at Scrap & Stuff & the brads I fell in love with a while back thought they would be great on vintage.

A Day Out & About....

Today the British Motor Club of Canberra (which we are founding members of) plus the Southern Highlands Morris Minor Car Club & the Yass Antique Motor Club Inc for a great day out to Taralga.
Where is Taralga you may say. This is what Wikipedia has to say:

Taralga is a small village in the Southern Tablelands of New South Wales, Australia in Upper Lachlan Shire. It is located at the intersection of the Goulburn-Oberon Road and the Laggan-Taralga Road. It is accessible from Oberon to the north, Mittagong to the east, Goulburn to the south, and Crookwell to the west. At the 2006 census, Taralga had a population of 812 people.[1]
Taralga is located relatively close to the famous Wombeyan Caves. It is a very cold area and is frequently affected by snow in the winter months.
The population of Taralga has fluctuated over time - from 100 or so in 1863, to over 700 thirty years later, followed by a decline to half that size immediately after the depression of the 1890s. By the mid 1950s it had regained almost its largest size, but today houses around 400 people.

We all met at The Trapper's Bakery at Goulburn for a yummy late breakfast.....you should see the BLT's I have never had one with soooo much Bacon....mmmmmmmm!! A good cuppa always helps too! Then off we set for a little drive of 44 km's in beautiful country. Once there we headed straight into Warren's place to see his old fire engine amongst other items of interest. If you are a fan of Top Gear Australia you may recognise Warren!!

Then all but four of us ladies, headed of to Ricks Auto Museum for a look around. Four of us hung back and had a lovely pot of tea and a chat before heading off to join the others where we were serenaded by Rick himself. When we finally finished there it was after 2pm and well past lunch. It took a while to sort out but finally we joined some others in the park for a sausage sizzle. Shaun & I had also bought chips, dip, crackers & cheese to add to it. It was very pleasant. Finally after a bit more chat it was time to go. I think everybody had a really good day. We certainly had perfect clear skies even if it was very chilly to begin with!

This is what the McGrath's Austin J40 pedal car is based on....an Austin A40!
This little car brings back memories for me. My friend Nerida had one and we would drive around the Adelaide hills in it, often me steering from the passengers seat!!

A Special Order....

Having received one of my cards for her Mother's Day card my friend Alison wanted me to make another friend of hers a 50th birthday card. I asked for anything specific she would like, but just said something pretty.....I asked would she like something funny and she said yes to that as well.

However, when it came time to make it I again made 2 cards one funny & pretty and one simpler and pretty. So it will be interesting to see which one she chooses.

The image was stamped at Lovely Linda's Home....thanks Linda!!
